Having attended our first Sunday School Lesson with President Carter in 2014, my wife and I were inspired to host international students from around the world. President Carter spoke at the time about reaching out to strangers and breaking down cultural barriers. Two weeks ago, we welcomed our fourth exchange daughter, Lucia, a 15 year-old from Lebanon, who will live with us for the 2019/2020 school year. Our previous exchange high school students were from Brazil, Italy and Sweden (Rotary Youth Exchange and AFS). Our young children, ages 1, 2, 8 and 10, have all learned so much from their exchange siblings and we hope that they will be inspired to help build a more peaceful world as a result. We will be bringing Lucia, along with other exchange students from the Charlotte region, to be part of President Carter’s Sunday school lesson on September 8, 2019. Thank you to President and Mrs. Carter and to all members of Maranatha Baptist Church!
